du·o (doo-oh) n
Two people or two things in close association
Our name, Batman and Batman, comes from our desire to make work out of a fluid, nonhierarchical discourse. A dynamic collaboration or duo, if you will. Unfortunately, the “original” “dynamic duo” presents a hierarchical system in the form of the traditional hero-sidekick model. To avoid this arborescence and because no one wants to be Robin, we've adopted the Batman and Batman moniker. Batman and Batman represents a level multiplicity where ideas can flow freely without inherent structure. The work comes out of our conversation so is always already based on language. Batman talks to Batman and Batman talks back, this is where the work comes from.
